Ernie R.'s blog

I guess it died.....

Well Eric, my friend, it appears that yet another of your great  ideas has failed. I thought this was a great idea to have a site where people could talk about the Spirit and exchange ideas and philosophies to help each other expand that "One Thing". But alas, it seems to have withered and died on the vine. That's a shame. I REALLY had high hopes when you first introduced Rocketed.

What do you think happened? There are 105 users listed but still no action.

Well my dear friend, I for one will keep the faith and continue to stop by and even occasionally slip a note or two to the masses, even if there appears to be no-one no longer interested.

What happened????

Hey everybody,

What happened to all the guys who were so filled with the Spirit of the Retreat and were posting here on a daily basis? Did that spark go out? Are you all waiting for another Retreat to renew your commitment to the "One Thing"? Shouldnt it be here amongst us on a daily basis? I for one do not want to wait for a Retreat to spread the message of the "One Thing" that I recieved at the Retreat.

How about it guys, lets start to spread the word that it really is only about the "One Thing".

Westside Men's Group

I would just like to acknowledge and thank the fellow members of my home group for the exemplary job they all did at our most recent breakfast. The thankless efforts of all those involved should be commended.  I have been involved in about 5 or 6 home groups in the 20 plus years I have been in A. A. but I have NEVER experienced the kind of love and caring expressed en masse at this home group. Please let us never take for granted the special, God driven, collection of individuals who participate weekly at our group.

May God, in Her infinite Wisdom, protect us and guide us for as long as She sees fit and may we never loose the spark of enthusiasm that permeates that group.

May God Bless you all and keep you until then....

I must be the slowest learner in A.A....

I just got finished reading the format for a meeting I go to every week and I just realized where the Lords Prayer comes from. Its from the other Big Book, The Bible. Specifically Matthew.

Is this one of A.A. most kept secrets?

I've heard that prayer thousands of times and never connected the dots. I am so glad that a few of us are on this journey together and are studying the other Big Book. on Wednesdays. WOW. It's amazing.

Some interesting A.A. banter...

I can't help but enjoy this verbal intercourse between AAs , But the idea that keeps popping into my mind is the success or demise of AA . The medical community has always played a part directly and indirectly in AA ..from the beginning !

Early A.A. "Stuff"

1 Corinthians 13

Another pearl from Dick B.'s website

  James 4: 7-10
7- Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8- Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9- Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10- Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

See any similarities....?

James 5:14-16 (New International Version)

James 5:14-16- (14)-Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. (15)-And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. (16)-Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

It all starts here....

For those of you who are interested, Stevie B. is starting a recovery bible group that will meet at St. Francis Mission around the first week in August at 8:30 in the evening. This is exactly what Russell was talking about at the Retreat. It's the "One Thing" that the first 100 had that was basically different from present day A.A., a working knowledge of the bible. I plan on learning as much as I can from both this group as well as the guidance of the many men that have committed to this "new " journey.

Blogging away

Well gents, its been just shy of 2 weeks and I am still filled with the Spirit. I havent had much of a chance to pontificate at many meetings since my rejeuvanation. But is all about God, not anything else. Regards Ernie R.
